Madonna is taking jabs at Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ yet again. In a recent interview with a Brazilian TV network, Madonna commented about ‘Born This Way,’ snidely joking, "I'm a really big fan of ['Born This Way']. I'm glad that I helped Gaga write it." Ok Madonna, we get the point.

For
the latest collaboration in the "Three Artists. One Song." campaign
Converse has teamed Gorillaz with OutKast's Andre 3000 and LCD
Soundsystem's James Murphy on Gorillaz latest single, "DoYaThing," which
is available for listening or free download at Converse.com/doyathing.
"DoYaThing," is an absolutely amazing song. Undeniable proof that
after 10 years of making music, Gorillaz is still packing heat and their
ability to lay down ass-spanking, funky, hip hop/pop music has only
grown over the years.
In conjunction with the release of "DoYaThing," Gorillaz' Jamie Hewlett has also designed a kickin' new shoe line for Converse.
As
my profile says, I have a shoe/ boot fetish--one look at the limited
edition Chuck Taylor Gorillaz Collection and it was done. Seriously.
Stick a fork in it. These shoes will be mine.
Gorillaz' Damon Albarn has been working on an extended version of "DoYaThing" for a later release (that 13 minute -->explicit<-- version
was leaked and hit Youtube today) while Hewlett has been focusing his
creative juices on a new video that will capture the funky, wild spirit
expressed in both the shoe line and the new song.
Gorillaz celebrated their 10th anniversary with the release of a new compilation album, The Singles Collection: 2001 - 2011,
and on February 21st they were honored at the Brit Awards in their
native UK with the Outstanding Music Contribution Award. Most important
of all, Damon Albarn has also been working in collaboration with his
other highly successful Britpop band, Blur, on new material and--in what
is sure to become a megaton explosion of pop/punk/funk fusion--Gorillaz
are looking at a return to the studio for a new album as well.
So pop over to the Converse website, check out the cool shoes and
download the new hot tune, the download button is below the embedded
player and it is red. You can't miss it. Gorillaz have also left a message that should make you feel right at home.
"Take a listen and, while you’re at it, get your mucky paws on a
Chuck Taylor Gorillaz sneaker, part of the new limited edition
collection featuring artwork by Gorillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett. Enjoy
the tasty bits, kiddie-winkles."
Singer Beyoncé, who famously played Etta James in the 2008 film Cadillac
Records, is speaking out on the legendary singer’s passing and says she
will be missed.
"This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time,” she wrote on her website.
“I am so fortunate to have met such a queen," she continued. "Her
musical contributions will last a lifetime. Playing Etta James taught me
so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a
stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear
her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told
her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. She will be
missed."
Etta famously slammed Beyoncé and President Barack Obama when he
picked the new mom to sing Etta’s famous hit At Last at the inaugural
ball in 2009.
At the time Etta said, “Your President, the one with the big ears …
he had that woman singing my song. She gone get her ass whipped. The
great Beyoncé … I can’t stand Beyoncé,”
And today Etta’s pal Roseanne Barr slammed Beyoncé and Obama for the snub.
“I lost ALL respect for Obama when he dissed Etta James in favor of Beyoncé,” she wrote adding that she stopped listening to Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z’s music because, “their arrogance was disgusting.”
Last night Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler did the honors of singing the National Anthem for a hometown crowd at the New England Patriot's AFC championship game. It was a performance that's sure to vie for a spotlight in the annuls of epic stars with epic anthem fails. Jezebel.com compared Tyler's vocals to a dying animal--and not in a good way.
It's going to be interesting to see what Steven Tyler has to say as a judge to wide-eyed American Idol hopefuls after yesterday's performance. It's sure to be a great punchline for the coming Idol season--perhaps a cautionary tale as well. Don't warble. Don't screech. And whatever you do, do not lose your shite and tear off your stage gear while glaring down the sound techs. [Aerosmith 1999 Grammy Awards] They will not help you. They do not care.
Unfortunately Steven's performance wasn't the worst of the anthem train wrecks, if it had been he could have at least counted on Madonna jumping to his defense. As it is she'd likely just tell him that he was trying way too hard... And Bootsy called. He wants his scarf back.
Madonna defends Roseanne Barr [1990 National Anthem Incident] (Language warning)
As it stands Tyler's performance wasn't the worst of the worst, and it wasn't the best of the worst anthem disasters either. It seems that the Lord of the Thighs is stuck somewhere in between--National Anthem Purgatory. But in those last few seconds, as fighter jets came barreling overhead, it sounded as if they might actually be dropping a bomb. It reminded me of another such ending...
Christina Aguilera destroys the national anthem LIVE - Hollywood Reacts
We knew right then and there--the end was bloody, frickin' nigh.
Of course, I'm a die-hard Aerosmith fan. Always have been. Always will be. Absolutely one of the best of the arena rock bands; rock stars who helped define the term. And they're still out there keeping the flame. I'd walk to see them live.
And hey, the Patriots won. They're Superbowl bound. That lucky scarf, I'm sure.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is set to hit theaters on Dec. 21st and if you haven’t read the book, you are really missing out. Steig Larsson’s Millennium trilogy is one of the best international mystery/thriller series ever published. The first novel is an epic that can stand alone, and it’s not necessary that you read the whole series. Also, it makes use of some really cool computer gear. Today, I am going to take the high-road, however, and try to not be a book snob. It is my expectation that you will be able to enjoy this movie without regret of having missed out on the novel.
Cast Daniel Craig
Yes, I know that all the books are supposed to be about Lisbeth Salander and the miserable existence that she has been forced to lead at the hands of a secret organization, but it’s really about Mikael Blomkvist. His altruistic personally and his complete intolerance for injustice is central to the story. Daniel Craig fits the bill for me as a believable Blomkvist, right down to his natural demeanor, not to mention his parallel looks to Sweden’s Michael Nyquist.
