Michael Jackson's 'This Is It' Trailer: Continuing The Tradition Of King Of Pop On Film Posted 9/10/09 10:43 am ET by Kyle Anderson in Music, VMAs This Sunday's Video Music Awards just got another dose of the King of Pop. On Tuesday, MTV announced that Janet Jackson would be opening up the show with a tribute to her late brother Michael (which is already inspiring speculation and expectations among fans). The latest news is that Sunday's broadcast of the VMAs will contain the premiere of the trailer for "This Is It," the film that incorporates rehearsal and performance footage from the shows that were supposed to make up Michael's scheduled 50-date residency at the O2 Arena in London. The film hits theaters on October 28 and will only be around for a limited two week engagement, but this Sunday's VMA show will be the first chance anybody has to check out footage from the movie. Of course, this isn't Michael's first foray into film. Many of his music videos are quite cinematic (as well as long enough to be considered shorts), but he has also appeared in a number of proper film projects. In his youth, there was his stint as the Scarecrow in "The Wiz." There was also his guest appearance on "The Simpsons," his cameo in "Men in Black II" and his Stephen King-penned TV movie "Michael Jackson's Ghosts." But the highlight of his cinematic career (although one that "This Is It" will almost certainly top) is "Captain EO," his 17-minute 3D movie he created for the Disney theme...
